Work for ChatCom
ChatCom makes sophisticated server systems of up to 112 Pentiums (Pentia?) with Raids, hot-swappable power supplies and modular cpus.
These are robust systems, but the company name was new (used to be J L), the budget was tiny and the competition was fierce. How to stand out? Be fiercer.
The ChatCom Gorilla leaps off the page and cannot be ignored.
Unlike other 'borrowed interest' uses of illustrations of animals, beautiful women or powerboats, the gorilla in this campaign illustrates a benefit of the system. Because ChatCom systems monitor themselves with built-in diagnostics, and alert the administrator, he/she will never be confronted with a user delivering the alert first. The administrator can already be working on the fix. The gorilla in this ad was beautifully illustrated by Brett Wagner.
