Our early work for
Quarterdeck Office Systems

When we acquired the account in late 1987, their total gross sales were $1.7 million. The ads Quarterdeck was running were unappealing and not benefit-oriented.

We set out to create ads in a more aggressive style, present benefits, and explain -- in an understandable way -- the memory map of the PC architecture. We also changed the 'sign-off' from "DESQview" to "Quarterdeck", believing that the company name could support more products.

At about that time, Stanton Kaye, the Marketing V.P. of Quarterdeck (barely) persuaded the programmers that a component of DESQview could be packaged as its own product: QEMM.

QEMM went on to produce up to $45 million in gross revenue a year--probably a total of $150 - 200 million in revenue for the company. In the second quarter of 1994, QEMM beat out every other software package--including Word, Excel and 1-2-3 for the number one sales position of any software program in the world.
